The company Vestígios & Lugares – Construções “AS® P&R”, has its origins in the life history of Mr António Serra. Born in a village in the municipality of Abrantes, soon begans to work in this sector and will be involved on it for about seven decades.

António Serra blazed the path initiated by his father-in-law,Mr. António Alves da Silva, also a man of the construction field, who after a few years of work, was co-founder, in 20 years, of the Construction company Abrantina, and stayed there till the early 50’s when he left the working life as an entrepreneur.

In the late 40´s, António Alves da Silva was the propellant , of the beginning of activity of António Serra, after having finished his studies at Machado Castro school in Lisbon and have worked a few years in Abrantina
Construction.

Through the activity of companies created for that purpose, individually or with partners, of which we must point Mr. Anselmo (Anselmo Costa Constructions), António Serra has developed activities in the field of construction (and in some areas, especially in the sawmill and mechanica carpentry l ) for about 7 decades.

He was also designer of a dozens of buildings during the 50 years of the last century.

There is a thread that marks the activity across over decades: “ conservation and rehabilitation of historic buildings and national monuments”. This business do not generate the greatest profit volume, bu is certainly the area that brought the most prestigious , helping to provide jobs in various areas. At this point we have thousands interventions performed throughout the country.

Our activity sector is an admittedly unstable , since it works in a cyclical way, and since the domestic market is especially volatile, we are thinking today about the future, preparing the to face new realities, through a strong capacity to adjust to new markets and the provision of services through the transfer of Know-how, as an essential valence to leverage business in order to have longer and more stable cycles.

To do this, we started partnerships with other companies in the real estate segment, in the project area and in the area of sustainable building systems, remaining and showing us permeable to new opportunities.
Internationalization is already an example of this capacity for adaptation and strategy, making the company more sustainable in negative economic cycles.

In AS®, the process of internationalization aims to scale up and expand the brand, in a logic of geographic or linguistic proximity, hence the opening up of new markets is especially directed at this stage for PLP (Portuguese Speaking Countries) or for ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States).

We believe that the knowledge of the sector, the capacity to execute and flexibility in the contracting of partnerships, will be fundamental to continue to work our way, honoring 4 generations linked to the construction sector and with a century of activity.
